Regards Croisés: West Africa Reflected on Lake Geneva
Lake Geneva is known for its still waters and quiet elegance — but this summer, it hosts a new kind of reflection: a conversation between West African art and Swiss serenity.
From July 31 to August 20, 2025, Regards Croisés: West Africa Reflected on Lake Geneva brings eight artists from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Togo to the tranquil halls of the Clinique de Genolier, creating an unexpected dialogue between art and healing.
Following its debut in Switzerland during Africa Basel at Art Basel Week, this marks unx-art’s second exhibition in Switzerland this year, reaffirming its mission to showcase Contemporary Art from Africa in spaces that invite both contemplation and connection.
Why Regards Croisés?
This exhibition invites viewers into a layered exchange: between the warmth of West African pigments and the quiet stillness of Lake Geneva. The participating artists approach the present moment as something alive, unfixed — transforming experience into thoughtful, tactile narratives that speak across borders.
Among them, Helen Nzete explores feminine grace and solidarity through delicate bas-reliefs and watercolors, while Clément Ayikoué Gbegno meditates on cycles of loss and renewal with monumental yet intimate works. Imal Silva blends ecology and spirituality into poetic canvases, as Chike Emembo reimagines personal memory and traditional hairstyles through his Muted Elegance series. Hawa-Jane Bangura revisits African history and solidarity in her hybrid digital-traditional practice, while Charles Achibi paints quiet resilience through subtle, layered compositions. Meanwhile, Sor Sen delivers bold, intimate portraits that capture life’s intertwined burdens and gifts, and Dr. John Oyedemi celebrates the regal Durbar tradition with vivid impasto works that merge heritage with contemporary vision.
A View Above the Lake — and Into the Future
High above Lake Geneva, the Clinique de Genolier is more than just a place of care — it is a sanctuary of calm and a beacon of innovation. Known for its discreet elegance and personalized approach to healing, the clinic sits at the center of the Genolier Healthcare Campus, a unique ecosystem where medicine, science, and now, art, come together.
At its side stands the Genolier Innovation Hub, a strikingly modern complex designed to spark ideas and accelerate breakthroughs. With expansive laboratories, creative workspaces, an auditorium, and even a sensory rooftop garden, the Hub brings clinicians, researchers, and entrepreneurs together to imagine the future of healthcare.
Here, where quiet corridors meet cutting-edge ambition, Regards Croisés finds its perfect stage — reminding visitors that art, like medicine, thrives on curiosity, connection, and care.
