PASSAGE brings together contemporary artworks and heritage objects from across West Africa, exploring the continuities between artistic creation, collective memory and lived experience.

Through painting, mixed media and heritage objects, the exhibition reflects the ways in which art remains embedded in social, spiritual and political life. Presented during the ECOWAS 2026 Mid-Year Coordination Summit, PASSAGE created a space in which distinct artistic languages and cultural histories could enter into dialogue.

Bringing together artists and objects connected to countries across the region, the exhibition affirmed both the diversity of West Africa and the cultural continuities that endure across generations and borders.

What Fabric Holds: A Material Examination of Memory

Set within a historic former silk factory, What Fabric Holds explores memory through textile, surface, and ritual form. Featuring six contemporary artists from Nigeria and Sierra Leone, the exhibition proposes that history is materially constructed rather than merely narrated. Here, pigment and gesture transmit memory through spatial logic.
