"Constructed in 1820, St John’s Maroon Church is linked to the Jamaican Maroons resettled in Freetown via Nova Scotia. Its timber and masonry structure reflects early colonial building practices. It remains one of Sierra Leone’s oldest surviving churches and part of the city’s historical fabric."
