Ties that Bond (2024)
Mixed Media (P.O.P. Plaster of Paris, ropes, acrylic) | 75 x 100cm
From Helen :
"When I created "Ties That Bond," I aimed to capture the delicate balance of familial relationships. The Knots, which I meticulously tied and gently loosened, symbolize the complex nature of family connections, representing moments of tension and support.
The white color evokes the essence of home as a sanctuary, enveloping the piece in innocence and protection. The sturdy yet flexible ropes illustrate the strength and resilience of parents guiding their children. Loosened knots signify the space for children to grow and explore, while the underlying structure ensures enduring bonds remain intact.
This piece speaks to the unwavering support and unconditional love parents offer, highlighting that no matter how far children venture, they can always return to the secure embrace of home. The materials and colors emphasize home as a refuge, a place of solace and strength."
