About the artist
Victor Chibuike, born in 1999, is a visionary artist whose work is redefining the boundaries of self-expression and storytelling. Growing up in the vibrant streets of Suleja, Niger State, in northern Nigeria, Victor initially found his creative voice through music, mastering the art of drumming and performing with various musical bands. His artistic journey took a significant turn in 2020 when he expanded his creative focus to line art, using the human body as his canvas.
As a self-taught artist, Victor's unique blend of surrealism and fashion has garnered attention and acclaim. His work, including thought-provoking pieces like "Elever" and "Still Mind," has been exhibited at notable venues such as Florida Atlantic University. Victor’s ability to seamlessly fuse fashion with art allows him to tell powerful stories that resonate deeply with his audience, establishing him as a distinctive voice in the art world.
In addition to body painting, Victor has developed a diverse range of skills, including costume design, set design, and styling. These disciplines play a crucial role in amplifying his creative vision. He draws his inspiration from what he calls "The Art of Fashion," a philosophy that guides his continual evolution and pushes him to challenge conventional norms.
Victor's talent and dedication have not gone unnoticed. In 2022, he received the Dunamis Departmental Award for Selfless Service and Dedication in the Department of Music and Art. The following year, he won the Chike Agada Cover Art Challenge, earning the title of Best Music Cover Art Design.
Now based in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital, Victor's studio is a space of artistic innovation and exploration, where he continues to push the limits of visual storytelling, solidifying his place as a rising force in the world of art.
