"During my teen and pre-teen years, I spent countless hours in and around Oyo town (Southwest Nigeria). At 13, my friends and I would walk long distances through the bush, taking shortcuts between towns. We’d climb trees, pluck fruits, and play in the suburban forests. The canopies of those trees always enchanted me, and the magic of those moments has stayed with me ever since. This painting is my way of revisiting those memories—capturing the wonder of those towering trees from my youth."
