Jon Strit i mɛmri | A Memory of John Street (2025)

Watercolour on Paper | 54cm x 74cm

From the Curator:

A structure remembered for its elegance and scale. John Francis’s watercolor reveals its dual condition: the splendor of its design and the quiet erosion of time. Through washes of amber and blue, he transforms decay into poetry, capturing the final breath of a building before its demolition. The work mirrors his larger preoccupation with impermanence — the tension between what endures in memory and what disappears from sight. In Francis’s hands, the lost house becomes not ruin, but recollection rendered luminous.
