Jazz as Muse: Translating Musical Vibes into Visual Stories

For KON-T, jazz isn't just a genre of music—it's a gateway to a realm where colors dance and stories unfold. Reflecting on the profound influence of jazz on his artistic journey, KON-T shares, "Jazz music means a lot to me and especially to my artistic journey." From his earliest memories of listening to jazz with his father to his days at art school, where jazz became a subject of exploration, KON-T's connection to this musical genre runs deep. "What I was looking for in the end was to have people listen to jazz on my works," he says, underscoring his desire to evoke the same sensations he experiences when immersed in jazz. Through his art, KON-T transcends the boundaries of sound and color, inviting viewers to explore the rich and poignant story of jazz's legacy, including its roots in the history of slavery.

Struggling with insomnia since childhood, KON-T turned this challenge into an asset, finding solace and productivity in painting during the night. Through self-portraits exploring this theme, he not only shares his personal experiences but also seeks connection with others who may share similar struggles or sensations.
